"Daniel is a skilled professor, with a practical approach to teaching. What sets him apart from other foreign language teachers I have had in the past is that he very much focuses on making the students comfortable in speaking Portuguese both in formal settings, but stressing the understanding in a practical way how Brazilians actually speak. For me as a student, he is good at shifting lesson plans to tackle ways to have conversations in Portuguese about topics such as futebol, or how to ask for directions from someone on the street, or how I would need to talk to the gas station attendant. I did get lost in Copacabana without a smartphone, and was able to ask people on the street for directions, and find my way, in large part thanks to the Portuguese I had learned from Daniel (3 months of lessons prior to that incident). "

Our conversations help me think deeply about different topics in Portuguese, and I always learn so much vocabulary and also grammar in a way that feels very natural.
